N 39.73245º; W 7.47888º
Lentiscais is a village in the parish and municipality of Castelo Branco, approximately 2 km from the left bank of the Pônsul River and has a resident population of 153 people, the largest percentage of which are elderly. The active population is dedicated to agriculture, mainly horticulture, olive growing and wine growing.
The locality has a Day Center, the Lentiscais Improvement Association, and a route of walking paths where tours are organized regularly.
Historically it began as a Monte, like other neighboring villages. The first houses were built at the beginning of Rua Velha. It is believed that pastors from Serra da Estrela who left the Serra in winter due to the snow (transhumance) contributed to its settlement. Hypotheses for this include the patron saint of Lentiscais (Our Lady of the Star) and several families with the Serrano surname.
